Easter means resurrection or death
by JH in.
witnesses celebrate jesus death, while other religions celebrate his ressurection.
which sounds better to you?

so why can't we commemorate his death and celebrate his resurrection?

One foot in and one foot out.
by tech 597 ini have to say that at one time i wouldn't even consider reading material at a discussion group like this one.
but in the last two years, discussion groups like this one have been indispensable to my dealing with a very personal crisis of faith, and i want to thank the brave and loving persons who sponsor sites like this, and the brave and loving persons who participate in them.
like many here, i was raised as one of jehovah's witnesses and never questioned the validity of the wbts view.

Memorial experience........ rude etc.
by Its so simple innothing much to say other than i finally understand why persons who 'don't go' go to the memorial.
it is a good time to reflect on what jesus did.
the funny thing is "jw's" attitude about it is, 'why bother?

scooby, i am happy that you enjoyed your memorial experience. my opinion is if it works for you - go for it - enjoy! but, please don't deny others their feelings, even if they are contrary to yours. wasn't that what you wanted in your memorial thread.?

Pioneers Assist Others program
by rocketman ini was still an elder and i was present at the elder's school about three years ago when it was announced that the pao program would be re-introduced (it was evidently in practice some years before).. the program was a problem from day one.
it was very hard pairing publishers with pioneers.
publishers who were approached and asked to participate felt that they were being thought of as "weak".

i was invited to participate in a different program. it was one where a pioneer studied a different book with a publisher. the program was designed to learn the deeper things that weren't covered in the knowledge book. i was asked two times. i denied both times.

Can you eat blood now?
by Brummie ini have no trouble with transfusions to save peoples lives but recently we went to a wedding and one of my little lads had been up to the buffet and come back with a plate of food, on it was little circles of black pudding (blood sausage), he didnt know what it was (i have never brought it home so he hasnt seen it before) but just threw it on his plate anyway.
while he wasnt looking i took it off and threw it away!
couldnt bring myself to let him eat it and i still couldnt eat it because of the background in jws.

At what age did you join the Witnesses?
by JH in.
at what age would a person have to be to join the witnesses and not suffer too much?.
if they are children, it robs their youth.. if they join in the teens, they won't get a decent education.. if they join at 20 years old, they will have to marry a witness.. if they join at 30, i guess that would be less destructive because they already are married, have children, have a house, an education and a job.. at what age did you join, and how did it affect you?
